A Golden Ratio colour palette is a remarkable tool that holds the ability to breathe life and emotion into your designs. It's impact extends far beyond mere visual aesthetics, as it possesses the power to influence our moods, evoke memories, and even increase or decrease our heart rate.
In short, we don’t just notice colours, we feel them.
So let's go ahead and create a Golden Ratio Colour palette, all in under 120 seconds.
Let's dive in...
1. Your first Golden Ratio Colour Palette
Grab the colour spectrum (attached) and import it into a Figma frame.
2. Create your Golden Ratio Grid
If you haven’t already, download the Free 7-day trial (figma) for the Golden Ratio Grid Plug in. https://www.figma.com/community/plugin/1182047151469830150
Create a grid with 5 vertical lines and 5 horizontal lines, aligning them vertically and horizontally at the centre.
3. Now select your colours
At the points where the vertical and horizontal lines intersect, select your colours (use your pipette).
4. Now create your Primary Colour Palette.
Keep redrawing the grid and selecting different combos of lines to get different colour outcomes.
Repeat as necessary.
Once you're happy with your primary palette, keep the same grid, then create a range of secondary colours. All colours will be linked to each other by the proportions of the Golden Ratio.
5. Now create your Black and white palette.
For your black and whites, use the black-to-white spectrum (attached) and repeat the above steps.
Go in a vertical direction, not horizontally.
That’s it!
Total Time to create palette once the grid has been downloaded: 1:50 secs
Cool?
So cool.
Don't forget –
Knowledge is power.
Until next time, Rockstar …
